Former Indian cricket captain and now a Congress MP, Mohd. Azharuddin is all set for court arrest in his constituency Moradabad in Uttar Pradsh on July 17, 2009 to mark his protest against the arrest of UP Congress chief, Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi sent to judicial custody
The former cricketer would be marching a protest rally and thengo for his court arrest after paying his Friday namaz in Moradabad. It’s to be noted that Congress Chief, Rita Bahuguna Joshi was arrested in Ghaziabad on July 15, 2009 under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989when she made a derogatory speech against UP Chief Minister, Mayawati.
On the other hand, her house was attacked by an unruly mob in Lucknow for the same reason. However, the judge has sent her in judicial custody for next 14 days. The bail plea for her release would be filed on July 17, 2009.
On Wednesday, she reportedly declared that the rape victims who have been given Rs. 25,000-Rs. 75,000 must throw back the same money on the government and if thsis is the way Mayawati would like to give justice to these women, Congress is ready to give her Rs. 1 crore provided she gets raped and faces the same mental trauma.
It was after this malicious speech that she was arrested and immediately sent to judicial custody.
